Losing key players to graduation is standard operating procedure for every college soccer program, though Providence College women’s head coach Sam Lopes (North Dartmouth, Mass.) knows the departure of two players weighs large heading into 2019.
When touching base with New England Soccer Journal, Lopes highlighted a new reality for the Friars: moving forward, they’ll be without All-Big East midfielder Kayla Steeves (Needham, Mass.) and All-East Region defender Katie Day (East Kingston, N.H.).
Day will stick around as a graduate assistant coach this fall, but questions naturally remain.
