About to enter her 25th year as head coach of the Boston University women’s soccer team, Nancy Feldman (Needham, Mass.), it goes without saying, has a handle on this whole recruiting thing.
Her program's longstanding success is noteworthy – a 308-150-48 record at BU, 14 NCAA tournament appearances and 13 conference titles across America East and the Patriot League – as is her first-hand knowledge of how the game has ebbed and flowed.
So when asked about her Class of 2023, a group comprised of 10 first-years and one transfer, Feldman doesn’t get into too many specifics on players. Yes, there are holes to fill with all-conference midfielders Dorrie Varley-Barrett (Chelmsford, Mass.) and Julianna Chen (Milton, Mass.) graduating. But she opts for discussing the bigger-picture.
