Morgan Andrews (Milford, N.H.) can be described in several ways.
She’s one the best-ever players to emerge from the FC Stars of Massachusetts club program. She was named the Gatorade National High School Athlete of the Year in 2012 and 2013, captaining U.S. youth national teams along the way. She’s also a College Cup champion, helping lead the University of Southern California to the 2016 crown.
But a goalkeeper? Not so much – that is until a 2-1 win for Reign FC over Sky Blue FC this past Saturday. With goalkeeper Michelle Betos injured late and the NWSL side out of substitutes, head coach head coach Vlatko Andonovski turned to those on the field. Andrews, normally a two-way midfielder, stepped up.
