On the eve of the Commonwealth Coast Conference season, league coaches picked Roger Williams (R.I.) for a sixth-place finish, exactly where the team ended up lodged a year ago.
If there were such thing as a midseason poll, they might have to reassess that first impression.
Nine games in, the Hawks are 9-0, with non-conference wins against MIT and Wheaton two that stand out. They’ve already matched last season’s win total.
There’s nothing fluky about the record, either. The Hawks have scored 16 goals – spread out among 10 players – and conceded just four.
