WINDSOR, Conn. – Nearly 100 college coaches convened at Loomis Chaffee School on Sunday for the annual Northeast Soccer Jamboree, an early-season showcase of NEPSAC boys soccer. The day included 14 games and showed the tremendous growth of prep school soccer in recent years, especially as alums have been drafted into Major League Soccer and begun their professional careers.
And there was plenty of that high-end talent again on display, including the likes of Millbrook forward Ousseni Bouda (Stanford), Loomis Chaffee forward Michael Suski (Boston College), Taft midfielder Sammed Bawa (North Carolina), South Kent winger Alex Adjetey (Virginia Tech), Worcester Academy defender Owen Schwartz and Milton Academy midfielders Jeremy Verley (Milton Academy) and Galen Lewis. Of note, Berkshire winger Jacob Shaffelburg, a Virginia commit with serious pro interest, didn’t play as he nursed a lower-body injury.
Despite some of the NEPSAC’s top players already being off the board, there were still plenty of top uncommitted players for college coaches to take in. New England Soccer Journal has highlighted 30 players who fall into that category, with inclusion based on personal observations and conversations with coaches or scouts.
The below players are organized alphabetically and range from upperclassmen to up-and-coming youngsters. Of note, it was nearly impossible to catch every game, with four matches often going on at once. From that, some upper-end teams weren’t watched too deeply, including Choate, Hotchkiss and Suffield.
