There’s a lot of talk about the strength of Division 3 men’s soccer in New England – and for good reason. Brandeis has made the last two Final Fours, Tufts won the national title in 2014 and 2016 and Amherst did the same in 2015.
But local D3 women’s soccer, at least in a national context, is equally as strong. Every Final Four since 2013 has featured a program from the region, with Williams capturing the 2015 and 2017 crowns.
It’s a testament to programs that the likes of Denise Dallamora (Brandeis), Michelyne Pinard (Williams) and Martin Desmarais (MIT) have built at their respective schools. The NESCAC and NEWMAC, among others, might not garner as much attention as their Division 1 counterparts, but still boast a really high level of soccer that’s paired with high-end academics.
To put the spotlight on D3 women’s soccer, New England Soccer Journal has highlighted 10 of the region’s top players. They’ve made strong impacts in recent seasons and are thriving in 2018. Of the 10, five are originally from New England.
