FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – Despite enduring the worst start in team history and standing in last place in the Eastern Conference with a 2-8-2 (8 points) record, the New England Revolution are not giving up on postseason hopes for 2019.
Nor did the players give up on manager Brad Friedel, according to his former assistant, Mike Lapper.
On Thursday, Friedel was dismissed after 18 months in charge of the local Major League Soccer side and accruing a 12-21-13 record.Club officials then spoke with media Friday morning about what emerges from a dark time around Gillette Stadium.
“I don’t think [Friedel] lost them,” said Lapper, who has been elevated to interim coach while a search for a new manager begins.
