The New England Revolution earned its first road victory of the 2021 MLS season on Saturday afternoon, outlasting FC Cincinnati 1-0 in the second-ever game at TQL Stadium.
After consistent pressure on a backline that was anchored by former U.S. men’s national team defender Geoff Cameron (Attleboro, Mass.), New England (5W-1L-2D record) earned its breakthrough in the 70th minute via forward Adam Buksa.
The No. 9 rose highest at the back post to powerfully head home a Carles Gil free kick, the Designated Players linking up on a set-piece routine. Gil, who’s re-signed through 2024, recorded his MLS-leading fifth assist of the season, while Buksa has now scored in three straight games.
