With a vast recruiting network and strong club soccer scene in New England, prep schools are home to a host of talented midfielders. Even two of the more-recent Gatorade National Players of the Year – Berkshire's Jack Harrison in 2015 and Umar Farouk Osman of Hotchkiss in 2017 – boosted their profile in the NEPSAC.
While there likely isn't a midfielder of that talent level in the NEPSAC this fall, there are still plenty to keep an eye out for.
From that, New England Soccer Journal has assembled a dozen of the NEPSAC's top returning midfielders, plus eight honorable mentions. To be included, players must have played prep school soccer last year. A separate story on notable newcomers was posted earlier this week.
Players below also aren't ranked. Instead, they're listed in alphabetical order.
