Naturally, returners are a known commodity when the prep school soccer season returns. As for newcomers? That’s where matters get more grey and fuzzy.
Freshman and sophomores, as young as 14 or 15, could end up playing alongside 19-year-olds and college commits. As talented as they might be, there’s simply no way of knowing if their game will translate to a program. There’s also no surefire guarantee with older players, but their track records and proven success on the club scene often forebode bright futures.
From that landscape, New England Soccer Journal has highlighted nearly three dozen newcomers to NEPSAC soccer who are primed for impacts, both big and small. The vast majority are seniors or postgraduate students, though some sophomores are included as well. Freshmen purposefully aren’t included.
