At times, it’s seemed as though Mac Steeves (Needham, Mass.) just couldn’t catch a break.
But Hartford Athletic head coach Jimmy Nielsen remained confident that the injuries, the setbacks were in the past for the target striker. It’s partially why the USL Championship expansion club took a chance on Steeves, a former youth standout for the Boston Bolts and for Providence College.
“He’s playing catch-up some, but you can see in training he’s a natural goalscorer, a fantastic finisher,” Nielsen told New England Soccer Journal. “We changed some with two forwards and it’s natural to have the big, physical presence. He’s a handful. He’s good holding onto the ball and flicking on the ball. He’s working his [butt] off.”
