When Loomis Chaffee and Buckingham Browne & Nichols met in last year's Class A final, it was the Pelicans who hosted and won 3-2.
That marked their second straight NEPSAC title, and denied the Knights, Independent School League champions, the chance to complete a near-perfect season. Perhaps that was how it was supposed to go, with Loomis Chaffee the two-seed and BB&N the five-seed.
So ahead of Saturday's marquee semifinal in Cambridge, Mass., – a rematch between now-No. 2 BB&N (15-2-1) and now-3 Loomis Chaffee (14-2-1) – the storyline is hard to ignore.
"The players are aware that what happened last year has no bearing this year," said Loomis Chaffee coach Linda Hathorn.
