In just its second year of existence, the Girls Development Academy is still sorting out its place in the youth soccer landscape.
The jury is still out on how its two main competitors – the Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) and National Premier League (NPL) – will impact its long-term stance.
Perhaps some insight can be drawn from its male counterpart, which was founded in 2007 and has since developed a strong pipeline to Major League Soccer and the U.S. men's national team.
Debates aside, one thing is clear: The U.S. Soccer-back league, with its 10-month season and national platform, is starting to find its way. As part of those inroads, several players from New England have established themselves as formidable goalscorers nationally as the spring DA season nears.
