Right before Christmas, Harvard made headway into Major League Soccer.
Sophomore goalkeeper Matt Freese signed a Homegrown Player contract with the Philadelphia Union, forgoing his final two years in Cambridge, Mass.
That progression alone is one the Crimson can hang their hat on, but their MLS-related news could soon double. Senior midfielder Sam Brown is one of 60 initial invitees to the MLS Combine in Orlando, Fla., which occurs Jan. 3-9 in the buildup to the 2019 SuperDraft.
"He has a great range of passing and is a fantastic defender," Harvard head coach Pieter Lehrer said of Brown.
