UPDATE: The MIAA Board of Directors on Tuesday unanimously agreed to have fall sports start Sept. 14 that are in accordance with the upcoming state guidelines.
Preseason camps for Massachusetts high school soccer teams are, as of now, scheduled to begin Aug. 24.
But with the COVID-19 pandemic causing college seasons to be cancelled en masse and club programs still limited to socially-distanced, small-group activities, coaches are worried. That emotion’s compounded by how Massachusetts deemed soccer a “higher risk” sport, while other states such as Connecticut have dubbed it a “moderate risk” one.
Summer is dwindling, and fall soccer is nearly here. Will teams actually be playing in 2020?
