The summer soccer scene in New England could still feature the semi-professional United Women's Soccer league, even as USL League Two and the National Premier Soccer League plans are cancelled on the men’s side.
Speaking with coaches and executives from the region’s three UWS clubs – the Connecticut Fusion, New England Mutiny and Worcester Smiles – they all expressed hope for playing an adjusted schedule as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to reshape our world.
They’ll ultimately defer to public health and government officials, and a wide array of options are on the table. Mutiny owner Joe Ferrara, who also works as UWS league commissioner, acknowledged the difficult decisions ahead.
