The Independent School League has named a girls’ soccer champion every year since 1981, but Thayer Academy had never topped the Greater Boston area-league. Until 2019, that is.
For the first time in program history, the day school from Braintree, Mass., has won the ISL by finishing one point above Buckingham Browne & Nichols.
The significance of this moment wasn’t lost on the Tigers (13-2-1), who are coached by Nick Rugnetta, a co-director for the Scorpions club soccer program.
