Last year, by professional measures, was a decisively successful one for U.S. women’s national team midfielder Samantha Mewis (Hanson, Mass.).
Mewis joined Manchester City in the FA Women's Super League and helped her new team win the FA Cup, her fourth title alongside a combined three previous NWSL championships with the Western New York Flash (one) and North Carolina Courage (two).
The 28-year-old was also named U.S. Soccer's Female Player of the Year for 2020, having scored four goals at Concacaf Women’s Olympic qualifiers. One of the world’s best two-way midfielders, the former Scorpions SC and Whitman-Hanson Regional star even added the 2020 SheBelieves Cup trophy alongside her FIFA Women’s World Cup medal from 2019.
