Up through early April, Greg Maclean (Walpole, Mass.) planned on spending next year with Eture Sports as part of a soccer-specific gap year.
But things can change quickly in the college recruiting world, with the versatile defender committing to UConn’s Class of 2021 in recent days. He’s currently with the Revolution Academy and has Boston Bolts roots.
Give or take, Maclean was 24 hours away from sending payment to join the Spain-based Eture Sports program before an official offer from the Big East side presented itself. Now, he’ll join the historic Huskies and stay local.
