With Division I soccer back in full swing, we’ve been mulling over several big-picture questions about New England’s collegiate landscape.
A leading one: Who are the region’s top players? And how do they stack up against each other?
There’s no perfect answer, of course, but an outline emerges when you sort through the weeds and really dive into the specifics. For our purposes, we did that by factoring in D-I impact, long-term potential and overall talent level. Even though that process is naturally subjective, it helps to determine a pecking order.
Sorted No. 1 through No. 25, and with a collection of honorable mentions, here’s our look at New England’s top D-I men’s players. For consideration, players simply needed to have a New England hometown. While there’s some prep school overlap, former NEPSAC stars from beyond the region weren’t looped in.
