A second Division III conference in New England won’t have league games in 2020 due to COVID-19 pandemic challenges, as the New England Collegiate Conference announced Wednesday that it’s suspended games.
The news comes five days after the NESCAC cancelled fall sports entirely, while six NEWMACs, four GNACs, Brandeis and two from the Little East Conference – all as of publishing – have followed suit.
The NECC, a seven-member conference that spans Connecticut, Massachusetts and New Hampshire, carries a smaller profile. Size and reputation aside, the decision still stings.
