The 2017-18 girls Development Academy season, the first after over a decade on the boys side, was largely a success for Oakwood.
Matt Cameron, the program's director, was named East Conference Coach of the Year, while forward Lumi Kostmayer (Southbury, Conn.) earned a spot on the U-17 East Conference Best XI. Further, the club's U-15 and U-17 teams both qualified for the playoffs, held in Oceanside, Calif., in late June.
But that's all in the past, with the 2018-19 season now in its infancy. To spotlight what's in store for this club out of Glastonbury, Conn., New England Soccer Journal has highlighted some players to watch on Oakwood's U-17 and U-19 teams. The U-14 and U-15 teams are purposefully omitted, because of how young the players are.
Also included is a general comment from Cameron, who'll coach Oakwood's U-17 and U-19 teams.
