When Gaby Carreiro went down in a 2017 spring season game vs. Northeastern, Boston College head coach Alison Foley couldn’t believe what was unfolding.
“She’s at the peak of her game, she’s feeling great, she’s as fit as she’s ever been and a top, impactful player in training sessions,” Foley recalled before the Eagles’ recent 4-0 win over Albany. “It was almost like, ‘She’s so good that this can’t be happening.’”
But there it was, the Upton, Mass., native’s first-ever serious injury. Upon landing from a challenge, Carreiro heard a pop in her left knee and swelling quickly followed.
