One of the region’s top defenders in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy has a college soccer home, as Oakwood U-19 center back Marcus Williams (North Branford, Conn.) has verbally committed to the College of the Holy Cross.
Williams is the second Class of 2020 player from the Connecticut-based DA club to commit, with midfielder Evan Schweikert (North Haven, Conn.) heading to American, a fellow Patriot League school.
Williams recently attended a camp on the Worcester, Mass., campus, helping close the deal. His major is currently undecided heading into his senior year, though the Crusaders’ academic profile “speaks for itself."
