NFL placekicker is not the most secure position, as the New England Patriots’ Nick Folk well knows. But should Folk remain with the Patriots long-term, he is looking forward to catching some New England Revolution games next season.
“I’m a soccer guy, I love watching it,” Folk said in a recent interview. “When I was little, I somehow figured out I could kick a ball, and my dad kind of helped out a little bit. When I was 5 or 6, I was the one taking goal kicks. It was a natural thing to do.”
Folk’s Austrian-born father, Anton, has Bavarian roots and passed on an appreciation for Bayern Munich to his sons, who played soccer in Southern California.
