The New England Revolution scored at least two goals in their first three MLS Cup Playoffs games, but couldn’t replicate that success Sunday night against Columbus Crew SC, falling short 1-0 in the Eastern Conference Final at MAPFRE Stadium.
A left-footed effort from Artur in the 59th minute was the difference, and the dynamic duo of Carles Gil and Gustavo Bou was corralled after sparking to life this postseason.
Second balls and turnovers proved troublesome, too, stopping a remarkable run from the No. 8 seed. Columbus ended New England's 2020 season, showing why it led the Supporters' Shield race before injuries to standouts like Darlington Nagbe and Lucas Zelarayan took their toll.
