During a normal season, the New England Revolution Academy's older teams would be returning in early December from a winter showcase.
The previous U.S. Soccer Development Academy days included an annual gathering of U-17 and U-19 teams in Lakewood Ranch, Fla., and a similar event is expected as MLS NEXT, now in its first season, continues to evolve.
Instead, the Revolution only played around 10 games between friendlies and league competition. The COVID-19 pandemic limited what youth teams in Massachusetts could do this fall, and things were no different for the professional-driven club.
