USL League One is still on track to come to New Hampshire in 2022, and now the prospective club has a New England soccer legend in the mix.
Former U.S. men’s national team forward Charlie Davies (Manchester, N.H.) will be a minority owner alongside majority owner Jeremy Zelanes, leaving the 34-year-old primed to shape professional soccer in the region. Once branded as New Hampshire FC, Davies said the club will have a different name.
Davies, who grew up in the Granite State and traces local roots to the Brooks School and Boston College, enjoyed an 11-year professional career that concluded in 2017 after MLS stops with the New England Revolution and Philadelphia Union. He also scored four goals in 17 USMNT appearances, plus played throughout Europe.
