The New England Revolution are considering launching a team in the USL for 2020, according to multiple sources. No details have been released.
When sporting director/head coach Bruce Arena was hired last month, the Revolution “second team” was among projects discussed. Talking about the possibility of entering a Revolution team in the USL, Arena said in a recent interview: “We are discussing having that one day.”
Technical director Curt Onalfo (Ridgefield, Conn.), also now working as an assistant coach, would be in charge of the USL team either as general manager or coach, or in both roles. Onalfo initiated the LA Galaxy II team and has been head coach of three different MLS teams.
