SIMSBURY, Conn. – Jillian Gregorski has been the face of the Westminster girls soccer rebuild, so it was only fitting that she scored the winning goal in Sunday’s NEPSAC Class A championship.
Third-seeded Westminster is the first team since 2018 not named Buckingham Browne and Nichols to win the Class A title, which it did on its own turf field by handling fourth-seeded Thayer, 1-0.
The Martlets (17-1-1) took the final step that last year’s edition that got outclassed by BB&N in the final could not, and capped an ambitious recent journey under coach Kelly Wosleger. Four seasons ago the program only won two games.
“We’ve been through the worst of it,” said Wosleger. “It’s been a long time coming, a process. This class of ‘24 has really been the building block.”
