Before recognizing 11 outstanding MIAA girls players, we wanted to give a nod to two coaches who recently hit major milestones with their teams -- Danvers’ Jimmy Hinchion and Lynnfield’s Mark Vermont.
Hinchion, a Danvers High graduate, recorded his 400th win at the school when the Falcons beat league foe Beverly, 3-1, on Sept. 30. Danvers is 11-2-3 after Wednesday’s 1-0 Northeastern Conference win at Marblehead. Vermont recorded his 300th career win at Lynnfield with an 8-0 decision against Triton on Oct. 1. The Pioneers (10-2-2) are riding an eight-game unbeaten streak that only includes one tie -- a 4-4 draw last Saturday against Hinchion and Danvers.
Both coaches will credit their players for earning all those wins, which is why we’re starting this week’s list of peak performers with a pair of Pioneers.
