The first half of the MIAA girls’ soccer season is in the books and teams are focused on fine-tuning their play as tournaments approach.
Some of last year’s champs look ready to repeat, as we’ll discuss below, but clearing all of the hurdles in any of the five state divisional tournaments will be a major challenge for any squad.
In fact, the top three teams in our most recent MIAA Girls’ Top 10 -- Natick, Hopkinton and Masconomet -- had to settle for their first ties of the season.
Masconoment was No. 16 in the United Soccer Coaches High School National Rankings that came out on Oct. 1, but the Chieftains' 2-2 draw against Woburn on Oct. 4 dropped them out of the poll that was released on Oct. 8.
