For a guy who grew up in York, England, James Proctor’s accent is pretty faint. It surfaces here and there, but the passage of time has chipped away at its persistence.
That’s likely because since 1998, Proctor has been in America as a player, coach, friend, husband and father. The move began after five years at Bradford City AFC and Rochdale AFC, and Proctor developed a contact with John Kerr, who was then coaching the Worcester Wildfire in the now-defunct A-League.
When they rebranded as the Boston Bulldogs in 1999, Proctor saw the writing on the wall: His playing career, which lasted over 12 years, was starting to wind down. He began to explore what could come next, and Joe Bradley, his Bulldogs’ teammate who’s now the CEO of Global Premier Soccer, introduced Proctor to some people.
