Geo Alves still has lofty aspirations as a professional soccer player, namely to play at the “highest levels” possible and represent Cape Verde’s national team.
The former University of Vermont and Dean College star hopes that his latest stop powers exactly that, with Alves signing a season-long deal with the New York Cosmos late last week.
The Cosmos have bounced around the lower leagues of American soccer since the early 2010s, and are now part of the National Independent Soccer Association. They’re in the Mid-Atlantic Region for the NISA Independent Cup, a summertime tournament where they’ll first play FC Baltimore Christos on July 28.
