Over the last two-plus years, Champlain Valley Union has cemented its place as the premier Division I boys high school program in Vermont.
The Redhawks, who have won back-to-back state championships, also had a dominant stretch in the 2000s. Few programs could top them in the Greater Burlington area.
That all changed this past Saturday, when Essex ended CVU’s 37-game unbeaten streak with a 2-1 road victory that included goals from senior midfielder Stefan Digangi and junior midfielder/forward Elvis Salkic in a come-from-behind effort.
