Sometimes storybook endings occur in real life, and that’s what happened for Bishop Feehan forward Francesca Yanchuk (Attleboro Falls, Mass.) last season.
“It did not feel real,” Yanchuk said. “It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience.”
The senior guided the Shamrocks to their first-ever Division 1 state title last fall, scoring 41 goals and smashing the school record for goals scored in the process. Yanchuk somehow stepped it up in the postseason, scoring the game-winning goal in three of the team’s final four matches. Her last-minute goal in the state final versus Westfield secured an undefeated season for Bishop Feehan (23-0-1) and capped off a remarkable run for Yanchuk.
