On June 27, the FC Stars White U-17 ECNL Girls National team lost in the Showcase A national final in Redmond, Wash.
Sure, the team was disappointed to come one win shy of a national championship -- they fell to Sting Austin, 2-0, in the final. However, considering where the side stood back in early-May, this postseason run into deep June was a massive success.
On May 1, FC Stars White sat in last place in the New England Conference with a record of 3-10-1. They then rattled off a record of 7-3-1 in the final 11 matches to qualify for Showcase A and book a trip to the Seattle area.
Head coach and ECNL White Director Shawn McDonough says everything just came together at the right time.
