One thing is certain at this weekend’s Girls Academy National Finals in Earth City, Mo.: A team from New England will be playing for a national championship on Sunday.
The Lou Fusz Athletic Training Center will play host to the national semifinals and finals in the age groups of U-14, U-15, U-16 and U-17. The competition begins today, as temperatures are forecasted to be in the high-80s and low-90s in the St. Louis area over the next few days.
It’s in the U-16 age group where the intrigue will run particularly high for fans of New England club soccer. NEFC will face South Shore Select in the Final Four on Friday, with the Massachusetts-based clubs both battling for a spot in Sunday’s national final against the winner of the other semifinal between Albion SC San Diego and Lonestar SC.
