LANCASTER, Mass. – As the final minutes ticked away, Robin Griffin found herself fighting a losing battle with her emotions.
No worries. That loss would pale in comparison to a massive win.
Griffin, a senior captain and center back, and her top-seeded Dexter Southfield team are champions of NEPSAC Class B, after playing a superb second half to down third-seeded Pingree, 2-0, in Sunday’s final.
Sophomore Cecilia Evans scored the game’s first goal and produced the rush that led to her team’s decisive second goal with about seven minutes left to play.
