Making the U-15 Development Academy playoffs was always going to be difficult for any club, with slots given just to the seven division winners and one wild-card team.
That aspiration proved extra challenging beyond Major League Soccer circles, as one of eight U-15 teams out in Oceanside, Calif., extended beyond an MLS setup.
So when looking at the Boston Bolts U-15 season, failing to top the Northeast Division and head to playoffs isn’t quite a fair barometer or measuring stick. After all, they went 16-5-3 and recorded a plus-44 goal differential – both highs for teams from New England.
