With a 3-0 win against William Smith in the Division 3 women's NCAA Tournament final on Dec. 8, Washington University claimed the women’s national championship to cap a 23-0-2 season.
Two Connecticut natives were in the middle of that title run -- Brookfield’s Meryl McKenna and Fairfield’s Kate Martin.
The Bears were ranked No. 2 in the D3 preseason poll, went to No. 1 in the next poll and never left the top spot as they won the second national championship in program history.
