With club soccer programs such as FC Stars, Connecticut FC, the Boston Breakers and others well established nationally, college coaches routinely hold New England’s youth players in high regard.
That fact surfaces throughout Division 1 women’s soccer, with locals littering top programs across the U.S.. Two high-profile, recent examples of this are how Sam Mewis (Hanson, Mass.) starred at UCLA from 2011 to 2014, and when Morgan Andrews (Milford, N.H.) won a national title at Southern California in 2016.
But in 2018, which New Englanders could make an impact outside of the region? To answer that, we highlighted 12 players who are primed for big seasons or are beginning promising careers.
The below list isn’t a ranking of sorts, but instead a watch list of locals to keep tabs on throughout the fall. As the season gets underway, New England Soccer Journal will also provide more in-depth coverage of New England’s college scene, with rankings, features, listicles and more.
