Twin sisters Christine and Danielle Etzel tend to make things difficult on their parents during the season.
With Christine being the starting goalkeeper at Brown and Danielle earning significant playing time in net for Harvard, the seniors play each other once a year in Ivy League play. That leaves their mother, Michele, and their father, Thomas, torn on the sidelines.
“We always joke that our parents wear neutral colors and stand in the middle of the field,” Danielle says with a laugh. “I think that sums up the experience.”
When Christine and Danielle (Madison, Conn.) aren’t going head-to-head, their parents tends to more easily enjoy their daughter’s success. The Etzel twins are entering their final season as collegiate goalies, and are both primed to lead their respective teams in the hunt for an Ivy League title.
