One year after four local programs made the Division 1 men’s NCAA tournament, New England will have three representatives vying for the College Cup.
As announced on Monday’s selection show, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and UConn have all received bids. For the first time since 2013, the Ivy League representative will not come from the region, snapping Dartmouth’s streak of four straight NCAA tournament appearances. Meanwhile, no local team has advanced as far as the Elite Eight since Providence in 2016.
Could that all change when first-round games begin Thursday and build towards the semifinals and final, held Dec. 7 and 9 in Santa Barbara, Calif.?
The odds seem low, but we’ve broken down how each local team is shaping up. There are certainly some enticing matchups out there.
