Heading into every college soccer season, there's always a collection of known commodities. Based on past successes and their résumé, it's safe to assume they'll be just as impactful for their respective teams.
But dozens of players fall into another bracket each year: breakout players. They were always solid players, but various factors prevented them from enjoying such prominent roles.
Maybe they transferred and were in need of a change of scenery, or perhaps a starter graduated and left a hole in the starting XI. It also could be that they simply needed more time to develop and realize their potential.
