Seven players with New England ties made preliminary rosters for the 2020 Concacaf Men’s Olympic Qualifying tournament, which is set for March 18-30 in Mexico.
Each preliminary roster included up to 50 players, and final 20-player rosters will be locked in 10 days prior to matches beginning. Naturally, inclusion on a preliminary roster doesn’t guarantee a ticket to Guadalajara.
Concacaf Olympic qualifiers were originally scheduled for March 2020, but the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic caused postponement. Now, two teams are poised to emerge as the region’s representatives in men’s soccer at the upcoming Tokyo Summer Olympic Games.
