A familiar face will lead Boston College men's soccer moving forward, as New England Soccer Journal has learned that Bob Thompson (Framingham, Mass.) has been named the Eagles' head coach. He succeeds Ed Kelly, who retired in November after 32 years in charge of the ACC program.
Thompson spent much of the 2019 season as interim coach, leading the program from their Oct. 1 matchup against Merrimack through an NCAA tournament second-round exit at Washington.
Thompson, who was recruited to BC by Kelly, was named an All-American after his senior year and was twice named Big East Tournament MVP (2000, '02). He also spent two seasons with the New England Revolution.
