When club directors talk about their teams and players, they tend to talk in platitudes — through no fault of their own. There’s an ethos at the core of their club that shapes the curriculum and identity, both on and off the field.
Things are no different for Bayside FC when John Mark Andrade (East Providence, R.I.), president since 2006, discusses the club from East Providence, R.I., one with a 22-year history. But it’s not fluff or hyperbole from Bayside, the most prominent club in its area.
Just ask Bryan Scales (Medway, Mass.), director of youth development for the New England Revolution. Bayside, which has its own U-12 team in the Development Academy, is one of three clubs in the region affiliated with the MLS side.
