With the U.S. Soccer Development Academy doing away with the U-12 age group next year, a new league spearheaded by the New England Revolution will fill that void.
Starting in 2019-20, seven clubs — Bayside FC, Boston Bolts, Global Premier Soccer, NEFC, Oakwood SC, Seacoast United and Valeo FC — have been invited to participate in the new U-12 Revolution Development League. This will bring together clubs from across three states in the region that already participate in the DA’s U-12 New England division.
Youth soccer inherently is full of politics and those with gears to grind, so uniting clubs that sometimes butt heads is no small feat. Gary Hall, the Revs’ U-13 coach and RDL league director, acknowledged as much.
