Josh Bauer (Bedford, N.H.) became the University of New Hampshire's highest overall selection in the MLS SuperDraft, getting picked in the second round (No. 31) by Atlanta United in Thursday's virtual event.
Bauer was the only New England native picked in the 2021 SuperDraft and surpassed former UNH midfielder Chris Wingate, who went to NYCFC in the third round (No. 57 overall) of the 2017 edition.
The center back was projected in most mock drafts as a first-rounder – some even had him being a top-five pick – but he slipped down to the Five Stripes.
